That mom of three is me, and being 39 pounds lighter from my heaviest already, I don’t plan to stop there.

It’s because now I know I can reach my pre-pregnancy weight again… at the age of 52! And looking back, it’s crazy to think I was sceptical about this way of losing weight for so long.

I wasn’t expecting hypnotherapy to work for me at all. Yet, when I discovered that weight loss hypnotherapy can actually completely change your relationship with food and your body, I was impressed.

However, the first time I tried it, I wasn’t successful. And for anyone who hasn’t been able to lose weight with it, chances are they’re making the same mistake I did.

Let me explain.

But first, I want to clarify how I went from thin to 40+ pounds overweight and what made me realize I needed to change

I never had any problems with my weight and stayed around 130 pounds without much effort.

The first challenge I had was during my first pregnancy.

I gained around 50 pounds but eventually returned to 135.

The same happened the second time.

But after a few more years, I had a third baby, and that’s when I lost control over my weight.

Once again, I gained 50+ pounds, but this time, they didn’t go down that easily.

And even if I managed to lose some weight on unsustainable restrictive diets, entering perimenopause in my early 40s made me completely stuck.

Actually, not only could I no longer get to my pre-pregnancy weight… I continued to pack on pounds steadily.

And by the age of 48, I weighed way more than I did at 9 months pregnant.

Looking in the mirror, I couldn’t recognize myself anymore.

All of a sudden, I started having all these weight-related health issues.

I realized that if I wanted to be around to see my grandchildren grow up, I needed to do something.

And do that something NOW.

I always thought weight loss hypnotherapy was a fad, but here’s what made me change my mind

I’ve known about weight loss hypnotherapy for at least a decade but never considered trying it.

Maybe it was because I considered hypnotherapy a pseudo-science that works just like a placebo for those who firmly believe in it.

And just recently, I discovered that I was wrong.

True hypnosis or hypnotherapy doesn’t involve swaying pocket watches, and it isn’t practiced on stage as part of an entertainment act.

Hypnosis is a genuine psychological therapy process.

Scientific studies show that it is much more than just a placebo effect. Hypnosis shows marked differences in brain activity. This suggests the brain reacts to hypnosis in a unique way, one that’s stronger than a placebo effect.

Of course, you cannot hypnotize your body to start burning fat for you.

You need to learn about eating well and maintaining a calorie deficit.

But most of us know how to do that. It’s just that we cannot find enough motivation or willpower to stick to the good habits.

And that’s where hypnotherapy comes in handy. It turns your knowledge into action.

Once I discovered all that, I tried hypnotherapy, but it didn’t work as I expected

As I said, it has already helped me lose 39 pounds, and my weight continues to go down.

But my first try at weight loss hypnotherapy completely flopped.

I decided to book a session with a local hypnotherapist. Several hundred dollar price didn’t stop me. Desperate times call for desperate measures, I thought to myself.

It’s a blustery Monday afternoon when I arrive at the hypnotherapist’s office.

He greets me with a smile. As the session gets underway, my hopes are high. For the first hour, at least.

We speak about my childhood. My relationship with food. My relationship with myself.

He promises we will tap into these subjects further when we get to the “crux” of the session.

I explain to him that what I’m hoping to get out of this is a shift in mindset.

My first red flag was how he spoke to me.

He had the tone of a car salesman. It feels like he’s selling me something instead of genuinely caring about my reasons for being here.

This feeling of uncertainty is compounded when he found out that I’m a journalist and wants to know whether I’d review the session. Not exactly the best start for someone who is supposedly about to change my life.

The second red flag came as the hypnotherapy session began. While I didn’t expect to go straight into a dream state, I also didn’t expect steel drum sounds to start emanating through the room.

The therapist’s voice drops four octaves. I instantly feel both ridiculous and uncomfortable.

Forty minutes in and I realise I am just a woman in a dark room, listening to a man spew nonsense in my general direction.

“I don’t think this is working for me,” I say. I explain to him that I’m not feeling anything.

We try a different approach, but again not exactly what I had signed up for.

Perhaps I’m expecting too much. After trying to lose weight consistently for many years I just wanted someone that could help make the process easier.

It’s a shortcut I was willing to gamble on, but one that, ultimately, didn’t pay off. The session ends abruptly. He promises to send me follow-up notes.

“I think I’ve just been scammed,” I message my husband as I leave the office, eager to tell him about the ridiculous afternoon I’d just experienced.

Fortunately for me, I decided to give hypnotherapy another chance

A few months later, my sister started an online weight loss program called HypnoHealth. She had lost 42 lbs with it.

After talking to my sister and scrolling through the success stories I decided to give HypnoHealth a chance.

All I had to do was take a free quiz, which took me around 2-3 minutes to complete.

Based on my answers, I got a forecast of how long it could take to reach my weight loss goal with the guidance of HypnoHealth.

I even got access to countless meal recipes and an activity plan.

On my first night of the program, I told myself: I would never weigh this much again.

That number is a fact. It is a piece of information that does not correlate to my worth.

It is just a number, and I will never see that number on the scales again.

With the right guidance, I started losing weight right away and continue losing it to this day

It’s hard to believe. I had zero control before I started this program. If I walked past a pastry or candy I would have to grab it.

I learned to discern between a feeling of physical hunger and emotional hunger. Once I determine it’s a physical hunger, I now decide to eat something healthy.

After I got in the habit of eating well, it was a no-brainer to get into moving my body. When we begin taking greater responsibility it only seems natural to do the next best thing for ourselves within the situation.

I’ve made a habit of taking a one-hour walk every day, something I struggled to stick with before. Thanks to HypnoHealth, I now feel motivated to prioritize my health. Rain or shine, I’m out the door, and each time I return, I feel fantastic.

Keeping a journal is a big part of this journey. It helps me stay focused on my goals and appreciate even the smallest improvements.

And now, 39 pounds lighter, I know I probably couldn’t have achieved this without HypnoHealth’s guidance.

Happy for you! Amazing transformation 😊 I, too, was skeptical about the whole hypnotherapy approach, but after shedding 20 lbs and finally getting some good sleep, I’m very happy I gave it a chance.

I completely relate to the struggle of losing post-pregnancy weight. It’s encouraging to see someone even older than me could do that. I think I should give HypnoHealth a try:)
